Leaving the Susquehanna...
For the past three weekends, we have raced at home on the Susquehanna River. Although it was nice to have the home court advantage, many of us were excited to begin the traveling part of our season. This past weekend we traveled to Hamilton, NY to race Colgate, Hamilton and St. Lawrence. It was not only a good chance for us to experience different racing conditions, but parents that may not normally get to see us race were able to come out and support us.
The novice team did very well representing Bucknell but the varsity team had a little more trouble. Being on the crew team for three years, I know that we are a team that learns from our experiences, good or bad. The loss to Colgate has only made us anxious to return to the water and see what we can do in the next three weeks.
Every team faces obstacles on its quest to reach its goals but it takes a special team to come together and overcome these obstacles as one. As we prepare for the Patriot League Challenge next week, we will think of the things we did right and the improvements that we need to make. One of the greatest things that I love about being on the crew team is that we are a resilient group of people. We are ready to take on any obstacles that come our way. Not only are we willing to take them on, but we will do it well.
