ORLANDO, Fla. - Sophomore Kris Devore and freshman Michelle Danish were the only Bucknell softball players to record a hit as the squad was shutout for the second-straight game in dropping a 5-0 decision to Cleveland State on Friday, March 19.
Another shaky first inning doomed the Orange and Blue as the Vikings scored three runs on three hits and three BU errors for the early lead.
Cleveland State did the rest of its damage in the bottom of the third inning. Another Bucknell error, coupled with two of the Vikings six hits in the game, led to the team's final two runs.
The Vikings' pitcher Grace Luginbuhl carried a one-hitter into the top of the seventh inning when Danish delivered her two-out single to the right side. Freshman Lauren Litts grounded out to shortstop for the last out of the game.
Junior Kelli Haskins pitched all six innings for Bucknell, striking out a season-high five batters while giving up just one earned run.
Bucknell falls to 2-5 overall. The Bison face Iona at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, before closing out the week with a game against Jacksonville State at 2:20 p.m.
