Bucknell Men's Tennis Swept 7-0 at St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. - The Bucknell men's tennis team dropped its first opportunity for a dual match win this spring, getting swept at St. Bonaventure, 7-0. The loss drops Bucknell to 3-2 in duals including the fall season. Bucknell's only previous loss was a tight 4-3 decision at home against Delaware.
Bucknell dropped all three doubles matches. Nick Denefrio and Matt Pikus fell to Nikhil Murali and Alejandro Nery, 8-2, while Joe Menezes and Asher Salam lost to Mario Arce and Dejan Stankovic, 8-3, and Gerald DiChiara and Aaron Saperstein lost to Andrew Hart and Sajeel Qureshi, 8-3.
St. Bonaventure managed to take all six singles matches in straight sets, never allowing a Bison racketeer more than three points. Arce beat Denefrio at first singles, 6-1, 6-3, while Murali beat Salam, 6-2, 6-3 at second singles and Nery beat DiChiara, 6-3, 6-0 at third singles. On the back three courts, Stankovic beat Pikus, 6-2, 6-2, while Hart beat Menezes, 6-3, 6-3, and Qureshi beat Saperstein, 6-3, 6-2. Bucknell took two exhibition matches, defeating St. Bonaventure's Greg Osier twice. Wes Madara won his pro-set match 8-6, while Brian Cohen took his 8-3.
Bucknell will stay at St. Bonaventure and face Buffalo Saturday morning at 9:00. The Bison, Bulls, and Bonnies are three of the four teams in Olean, N.Y. this weekend, as Duquesne faces Buffalo tonight and will play St. Bonaventure tomorrow. Bucknell beat Duquesne 6-1 on Oct. 4 in Pittsburgh.
