Hello Bison Friends and Family!
The Bucknell Women's Crew team kicked off its spring season with a two-week long training trip to Miami Beach, Florida. This trip proved to be a great success - both in developing rowing technique and team bonding.
Time between morning and afternoon practices was spent lounging around the pool, swimming in the ocean, or lying out in the Florida sun... but only after enjoying the Comfort Inn breakfast buffet. Yogurt and muffins were hot commodities among us rowers, and Bucknell unfortunately had to compete against crews from Buffalo, Boston College and U Conn. For some, the day off included an excursion to 'Little Havana', allowing for the opportunity to enjoy some authentic Cuban cuisine. Others took to the streets of South Beach, experiencing the vibrant Art Deco atmosphere and acquiring some quality gelato.
Towards the end of our final practice on the Biscayne Bay, and much to the team's surprise, we were given popsicles while in the boat. To add to this special moment, two dolphins surfaced a mere thirty feet away as the sun shone brightly above.
We are now back in Lewisburg, and have begun training for the annual Erg Armageddon. With snow accumulating by the week, Miami Beach seems so far away. The team is working hard on the ergs and in the weight room through this winter season, and is anticipating a successful spring showing.
Eat 'Em Up ... BISON!
