Bucknell Women's Swimming and Diving Picks Up One Loss, One Win on Weekend

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Bucknell women's swimming and diving team picked up a 153-148 win over UNC Wilmington on Saturday but also saw a streak of 16 dual-meet wins come to an end, falling to Navy, 176-124, in Annapolis, Md. The Bison men lost to Navy, 234-66, as well as UNC Wilmington, 201-97.
Jamie Flick won both breaststroke events for the Bison, taking the 100-meter in 1:14.88 and the 200 in 2:42.79. Teammate Emily Wichryk followed Flick, placing second in both events with times of 1:16.23 and 2:44.76.
Overall, the Bucknell women won three individual events and one relay competition on the day. The team of Lectie Altman, Flick, Mary Krakowski and Rebecca Scheffter swam a time of 2:01.10 to take the 200-meter medley relay, for the first win of the day. Altman won the 200 backstroke in 2:21.93 just ahead of Laura Goeller who placed second in 2:23.40.
Goeller managed a second place showing in the 200 individual medley, swimming a time of 2:25.70. Also earning second place finishes for the Bison were Altman in the 100 back in 1:05.85, and Erika Mannix in the three-meter diving event, tallying a score of 233.15.
William Schilling took home Bucknell's only first place finish of the day on the men's side, earning a victory in the 200 breaststroke in 2:26.91. Schilling bested Navy's Brian DeMell by a mere one-hundreth of a second for the win. Schilling also took third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.96.
Adam Freeman also picked up a third place finish, scoring 270.30 in the one-meter dive. In the 3-meter dive, Freeman placed fourth tallying a score of 230.85. Another fourth place finisher was Mark Kretzer in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.38.
The Bison will face Patriot League opponent Army on November 20, at home at Kinney Natatorium. The dual-meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
