Bucknell Men's Golf Ties for 3rd at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. - Behind four scores of 78 or better and two top-10 individuals, the Bucknell men's golf team shot a solid 302 on Sunday and finished in a tie for third place at the Cornell Invitational.
Bucknell began the day two strokes behind first-round leader Lehigh, and the Bison made up those two shots to finish in a tie with the Mountain Hawks at 610. But Binghamton and Loyola, who entered the final round in a tie for third, shot 293 and 294, respectively, to claim the top two spots. Host Cornell finished fifth in the 17-team field with a 617 composite.
First-round co-leader Abbie Valentine shot 76 on Sunday in finished in a tie for third place individually at 148, five shots back of the winning score of 143 posted by LeMoyne's Dan McCarthy (72-71).
Bucknell's Alex Dolle fired an even-par 72 in the final round to sneak into the top 10. His 36-hole total of 151 was good for a three-way tie for ninth place.
Also for the Bison, Tom Lane shot 79-76 and placed 17th; Charlie Waddell tied for 27th at 78-79; and Ben Pellicani tied for 33rd with rounds of 80 and 78.
The Bison return to action next weekend at the West Point Golf Course for the Army Fall Invitational.
