Bucknell Men's Tennis Completes Competition at ECAC Championships

Mercer County, N.J. - Joe Menezes improved to 6-0 on the season in singles play between the Bloomsburg Tournament of two weeks ago and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships this weekend, winning the fourth singles flight in the process. Menezes beat David Alvarado of Manhattan, 6-4, 6-4.
Bucknell's other two participants remaining in the winner's bracket after Saturday, Asher Salam and Gerald DiChiara, fell in their matches. DiChiara lost to Gustavo Sanchez from Dowling College, 7-6(7), 6-4, and Salam lost to Andrew Mott of Lafayette, 6-3, 6-0.
Nick Denefrio and the doubles team of Matt Pikus and Aaron Saperstein completed their back draw competition yesterday.
Under the point system at the ECAC Championships, Bucknell's 13 points were good enough for third, behind Manhattan's 18 ? and Lafayette's 14.
The Bucknell men's tennis team will have three home dual matches next weekend, against St. Francis (Pa.) at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, against Monmouth at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, and against Delaware at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
