Bucknell Golf Alumni Return for Spring Outing

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Golf team members from three decades participated in the annual Golf Team Alumni and Friends Outing held at the Bucknell Golf Club on May 9th. Numerous friends of former players and of the Bison athletic department also participated in the event.
The low gross score for the day was a 71 posted by former team captain and 1986 graduate Erik Hager. Dave Maier class of 1973 and Bob Miller class of 1968 tied for second low gross with a score of 73. Other notable scores from former Bison players were; Charles (Chick) Wagner, class of 1976, (75); Marty Erb, class of 1972, (76); Tim Dickens, class of 1985, (76); and Mickey Sinkus, class of 74, (77).
The two-man team net competition was won by Bob Miller and Tim Dickens with a score of 61. Second place was won by Erik Hager and Mickey Sinkus with 62, followed by Bob Marks, class of 1966, and Craig Godley with a 63, for third place.
The "Bruce Firm Foursome Gross Better Ball Competition" was won by Tim Dickens, Erik Hager, Marty Erb, and Dave Maier with a 66.

The event was capped off by cocktails, dinner, an awards presentation and a silent auction. The silent auction featured an autographed baseball by Roger Clemens, a 2001 Master's Flag autographed by Arnold Palmer, and a number of Bucknell Golf Club Tournament flags autographed by a variety of PGA professionals.

"I want to thank all the participants -- former Bison golfers, golfing alumni and friends of the program -- for their participation and donations to the program," said Bucknell head men's golf coach Jim Cotner. "I especially want to recognize the players from the 1970s for their outstanding performance in today's event. Out of nine players from that decade that participated, they had four solid rounds in the 70s. This is the kind of participation we need to make this a real successful annual event."
The tentative date for next year's outing is Friday, May 14th. More information will be forthcoming this fall.
