OLEAN, N.Y. - Bucknell's final three singles players came through in the clutch, picking up much needed victories to help the women's tennis team to a 4-3 win over Niagara on Saturday, February 22. The Bison also won the doubles point for their second-straight win of the spring season.
Sophomore Nadezda Curcic and freshman Veronica Brown picked up a hard fought win at first doubles, defeating Milena Matijevic and Colleen Willick 9-8 (4). Junior Samantha Berthod and freshman Chelsea Mills secured the doubles point for the Orange and Blue, shutting out Colleen Carey and Kendra Daigler 8-0 at the third flight.
In singles play, senior Jill Wurzburg, Berthod and Mills were all victorious for BU. Wurzburg rebounded from an injury default in her first match of the day against St. Bonaventure to pick up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Willick at fourth singles. Berthod followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Carey at the fifth flight, before Mills guaranteed the Bison win with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat over Daigler at the sixth spot.
