
Bucknell Women's Tennis Continues Impressive Spring with 7-0 Win at Delaware

NEWARK, Del. - The Bucknell women's tennis team continued its dominance over its opponents, picking up a 7-0 win over Delaware on Sunday, March 16. The Orange and Blue lost only two sets in singles play, while sweeping the doubles point.
Sophomore Nadezda Curcic and freshman Veronica Brown set the tone for the day with an 8-3 win over Jessica Wilkes and Beth Principe at number one doubles. Sophomore Tanya Sichko and freshman Rheanna Gaskin followed with another 8-3 victory, defeating Christine Knox and Jennifer Lamberton at the second flight. Senior Jill Wurzburg and junior Samantha Berthod made it a clean sweep with an 8-2 victory against Katie Heath and Jenna Musolino at number three.
In singles play, Curcic picked up a straight-set win over Wilkes, 6-2, 6-1, at the first flight. Knox challenged Brown to three sets at number two, before the Bucknell rookie came out on top of a 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 decision.
Wurzburg, Sichko and Gaskin each won at three, four and five, respectively, without dropping a set. Wurzburg lost only one game while defeating Lamberton, 6-1, 6-0. Sichko picked up a 6-3, 6-1 decision against Principe, and Gaskin won 6-0, 6-4 against Stefanie Riddle.
Berthod rounded out the Bison scoring with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 win over Heath at number six.
The Orange and Blue remain undefeated with a 7-0 spring record. Bucknell is back in action on Wednesday, March 19 when it hosts Loyola at 3:00 p.m.
