Bucknell Completes Regular Indoor Track and Field Season at Home

LEWISBURG, Pa. - With one week before Patriot League Championships, the Bucknell Indoor Track and Field team hosted the 15th Annual Winter Classic in Gerhard Fieldhouse, Saturday. The Bison competed against 20 visiting schools and received 11 first place finishes.
Adam Kaufman produced a first place finish after launching the weight throw 48'7.24". Noel Powell leaped 24'1.75" in the long jump to add to the Bison's first place marks. Receiving another gold medal in the field events was Dan Frake who placed the shot put at 45'6.5".
Richard Alexander received a first place finish in the 55-meter hurdle event with a final time of 7.82. Douglas Creveling placed fourth in the 3000k event, crossing the line at 8:45.50. Sean McCarthy marked 4:21.35 in the mile run for a second place finish for the Bison.
In the 500-meter race, Eric Furst placed second after capturing a time of 1:06.76. Adam Jacob cleared a height of 15'3" in the pole vault event for a fifth place mark. Jacob is now tied for fifth on Bucknell's all-time charts. Lou Palma received second place in the 800-meter run with 1:55.22.
Matias Palavecino (2:33.42, 2nd) and Koran Evans (2:34.03, 3rd) represented the Bison in the top marks in the 1000-meter event. The Bison men closed the day with a first place finish in the 4x400-meter relay (3:25.82)
On the women's side of competition, Elizabeth Pendelton captured a first place finish in the weight throw with a measurement of 50"2.5'. Angela McFarland (46'4"), Laura Schaffer (46'3.25") and Maria Garcia (46'0.75") grabbed the fourth through sixth slots in the weight throw. Schaffer received a first place finish in the shot put with a mark of 41'4.25".
Monique Boley finished the 500-meter run in 1:17.82 for a gold medal. Amy Calvo also received a first place mark in the 800-meter event with a time of 2:17.30, and now stands eighth on BU's all-time charts. Nicki Piper crossed the line first in the 1000-meter run (2:57.53) and now stands sixth on the all-time charts. Theresa Dennis placed second in the mile run (5:04.42) and now stands eight on the all-time charts in the mile run.
In the 55-meter hurdles, Kiley MacDonald (8.50), Jamie Lilien (8.54) and Edwina Bourn (8.57) earned second, third and fourth place honors. Tolulope Fayanjuola crossed the line at 7.39 in the 55-meter dash finals for a second place finish.
Charity Brady placed second with a time of 26.11 in the 200-meter dash, and Rehana Lanewala (4th, 26.25), MacDonald (5th, 26.29), Fayanjuola (6th, 26.32) followed closely behind. Bucknell's "A" 4x400-meter relay team finished fourth in the last event of the evening with a time of 3:59.35.
"We went into this meet with the intentions of keeping healthy and work on some fine tuning for next weekend," stated head coach Kevin Donner. "We competed well and are now prepared to compete at Patriot League Championships."
Bucknell will travel to Hamilton, N.Y., on Friday, Feb. 21 to being the first of the three-day Patriot League Indoor Championships at Colgate. The championships will last through Sunday, Feb. 23.
