LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell lacrosse players Blaise Fletcher (Glen Mills, Pa./Archmere Academy) and Chris Cara (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) have been named Honorable Mention Preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook.
Fletcher, a senior co-captain, will anchor the Bison defense in 2004. He was a first-team All-Patriot League selection last spring after being named to the second team as a sophomore in 2002. Fletcher was a major reason why Bucknell ranked first in the Patriot League and fourth nationally in scoring defense last year, allowing only 7.0 goals per game. At 6'6", Fletcher is a towering physical presence who is typically assigned to the opposition's top attackman.

While Fletcher patrols the defensive end of the field, Cara is Bucknell's top offensive catalyst. The junior attack is already one of the school's top all-time scorers after only two seasons. In 2002 Cara shattered the Bucknell freshman scoring record with 56 points (25 goals, 31 assists) and was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year and a second-team all-leaguer. Last season he was second in the league with 49 points (19G, 30 A).
With 61 career assists, Cara already ranks sixth on Bucknell's career list. He is one of only six players in school history to record 30 assists in a season, and one of two to do it twice.
Bucknell has earned at least a share of the last four Patriot League titles and are coming off a 9-4 season. The Bison open their 2004 campaign on Feb. 28 against Mount St. Mary's at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
