Bucknell Men's Tennis Completes Steeltown Sweep, Beats Robert Morris 6-1

Moon Township, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team knocked off Robert Morris, 6-1, this morning to go 2-0 on its road trip to the Pittsburgh area. The Bison defeated Duquesne on Saturday morning, also 6-1. Bucknell swept the doubles matches and took five of six singles matches to win the dual.
At number one doubles, Nick Denefrio and Matt Pikus beat Thomas Delorie and Mhamed Mekaoui of Robert Morris, 8-5. Gerald DiChiara and Asher Salam rebounded from yesterday's doubles loss to win on court two, 8-1 over Youssef Mekaoui and Web Yeardie. Bucknell completed the sweep on court three, with an 8-1 win by Dave Eckelberger and Don Whaley over Christian Lemke and Chris McAfee.
Robert Morris' only point came at number one singles, where Mhamed Mekaoui came from behind to beat Denefrio, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(5). Bucknell took all the other singles matches. DiChiara beat Youssef Mekaoui, 6-0, 6-1 on court two, while Salam beat Delorie, 6-1, 6-0 on court three, Pikus beat Web Yeardie, 6-1, 6-0 on court four, Aaron Saperstein beat Chris McAfee, 6-1, 6-0 on court five, and Eckelberger beat John Maas, 6-0, 6-1 on court six.
The Bison have their second-to-last weekend of the fall season next Saturday and Sunday at the Patriot League Flighted Tournament at Army.
