Hamden, Conn. - The Bucknell field hockey team fell to Quinnipiac on Tuesday afternoon, 1-0. Following a seven-for-eight start, Bucknell has dropped three in a row and will look to end the streak on Saturday at Graham Field against Georgetown.
The first half passed by scoreless despite 10 of Quinnipiac's 13 shots coming in the opening frame. Accordingly, Bucknell goalie Liz Jordan recorded four of her five saves in the opening half. The Bison went on the offensive in the second half, launching eight of their 10 shots, but could put none by Quinnipiac goalie Erin McKay, who had three of her four saves in the second half.
The goal came four-and-a-half minutes into the second half, when Meredith Klein scored on an assist from Chelsea Osbrey. Each of those two players recorded four shots, while Callista Costopoulos, Kelly O'Brien, and Kirsten Nilsen recorded two each for Bucknell. It is the first time all season that Bucknell has been kept off the scoreboard.
Saturday's match against the Hoyas will begin at 12:00 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend in Lewisburg.
