LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior women's basketball standout Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) has been named the Bull Run Inn Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 26, 2003. The 5-10 guard wins the award on the heels of becoming Bucknell's all-time leading scorer.
Creamer helped the Bison to a 2-0 week while averaging nearly a double-double with 27.0 points per game and 9.5 assists per game.
The co-captain entered the game against Army on Friday, January 24, needing 11 points to break 1989 Bison graduate Jen Walz's career-scoring record (2,112). She got that by halftime on her way to a game-high 32 points. The 30-point game marked her sixth-straight game with 20 or more points, and was her school record 14th career 30-point contest.
Creamer came out against Lafayette on Sunday, January 26, to score 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while also handing out a season-best 13 assists for her third double-double of the year. In addition, she was a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line and grabbed three steals in the contest. The game marked Creamer's seventh straight 20-point game, just one shy of the Bucknell career record.
For the season, Creamer is leading the conference with 26.6 ppg and 6.2 apg. With 2,156 total career points, she needs 69 to become the Patriot League's overall all-time leading scorer (men and women).
The Bison are currently 8-9 overall and 3-2 in Patriot League play after putting together a three-game win streak. Bucknell is in action next at Colgate on Friday, January 31, at 5:30 p.m., before traveling to Holy Cross for a 1:00 p.m. game on Sunday, February 2.
