STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Bucknell University men's and women's indoor track and field teams participated in the U.S. Coaches Association track meet at Penn State University. The women placed sixth with a total of 48 points, while the men placed seventh with 50 points.
In the women's competition, Charity Brady placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.40 and places her fourth on Bucknell's All-Time charts. Kayla Halloran ran the mile run in 5:15.91 to place eighth, while Jennifer O'Connor (11th) and Alison Cole (15th) clocked in behind. Amy Calvo captured a first place finish in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:15.01, while Monique Boley marked fifth (1:17.98). Calvo now stands in first place on the All-Time record books.
With a time of 2:14.97, Nicki Piper placed third in the 800-meter run and placed her fourth on the AT charts. Theresa Dennis marked eighth in the 3,000-meter run, clocking in at 10:08.74. Dennis now stands seventh on the All-Time charts at Bucknell. Kiley MacDonald (9.16) received the bronze medal in the 60-meter hurdle event, while Jamie Lilien placed sixth with a time of 9.44.
Bucknell's 4x400 relay team grabbed a fourth place finish with a time of 3:53.99. The relay team, which now stands seventh on the BU All-Time charts, included Amy Calvo, Brady, Piper and Boley. The women's 4x800 relay, included O'Connor, Laura Nagy, Jennifer Malcolm, and Kerryann Branker, placed sixth with a time of 9:51.78. The Distance Medley Relay team placed seventh with a time of 12:42.45. The DMR team included, Halloran, Danielle Todman, Jennifer Marsh and Cole.
Receiving points for the Bison, Abigail Bouzan-Kaloustian placed seventh in the pole vault event with a measurement of 10'0". In the long jump, Tolulope Fayanjuola marked eighth with a 17'1.25" jump.
In the men's competition, Noel Powell placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.11. Lou Palma received third place medal in the one-mile run, timing in at 4:13.37. In the 1,000-meter event, Eric Furst place second, clocking in at 2:27.78, while Matias Palavecino place eighth with a time of 2:32.18. Bryan Johnston placed third in the 3,000-meter run, crossing the line at 8:26.98. In the 60-meter hurdles, Richard Alexander (8.50) and Darrell Perry (8.64) placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
In the 4x400 meter relay, Brian Klotz, Christopher Edwards, Ryan Newberger and Matt Nini captured10th place with a time of 3:22.99. Grabbing fifth place, the 4x800 relay team crossed the line at 7:48.69. The 4x800 included, Furst, Palma, Palavecino and Thomas Prochilo. The Distance Medley Relay team, which included Kevin Walsh, Mike Mellas, Koran Evans and Douglas Creveling, placed fifth with a time of 10:22.52.
Jeffrey Arek received seventh place with a 14'3.25" measurement in the pole vault. Powell marked fourth in the long jump with a 23'5.5" placement. Adam Kaufman placed fifth in the weight throw with a 48'8.75" measurement.
Bucknell will return to action next weekend, Saturday, January 25 when they host the Bucknell Octagonal.
