Bison Men's Soccer Wins 2-0 Against Buffalo in Bulls Fall Invitational

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Bucknell scored two goals in the second half to defeat the University of Buffalo, 2-0, in the opening round of the 2002 Bulls Fall Invitational on Saturday, September 7. The Bison face Canisius at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 8.
The Bulls and Bison played to a scoreless first half before Bucknell grabbed the lead at the 68 minute mark as freshman Eric Brunton's (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) dribbler got past UB goalkeeper Brian Wozniak for the first goal of the match. Sophomore Jonathan Hemmert (Westerville, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) picked up an assist on the goal.
The Orange and Blue put the game away at the 89:42 mark as junior Chris Beekman (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) took a header pass from senior Steve Feather (Maryville, Tenn./Maryville) and scored on a breakaway goal for the 2-0 decision. Freshman goalkeeper Adam Edwards (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown), who punted the ball to Feather, was also credited with an assist.
Buffalo outshot Bucknell 11-9 in the contest, while the Bison held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Edwards earned his second-straight shutout, recording six saves. Buffalo's Wozniak stopped two Bucknell shots, while Chris Vavrina picked up one save and allowed a goal in the final 16 minutes of action.
The Bison improve to 3-0 on the year and will face Canisius on Sunday, September 8, at 11:00 a.m.
