Bucknell Women's Tennis Competes at West Virginia Invitational

Morgantown, W.Va. - The second day of competition is complete in the women's tennis Martha Thorn Invitational held at West Virginia University on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 6-8. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the finals of both singles and doubles.
Junior Samantha Berthod got her season started on the right note, defeating George Mason's Kelly Melicher in straight sets at flight C singles, and then beating her opponent from Army to stay alive in the winners bracket.
Also having an impressive opening weekend for the Bison are freshmen Veronica Brown and Rheanna Gaskin. The duo teamed up at flight A doubles to go undefeated through two matches. After winning 8-4 against their opponents from Duquesne, Brown and Gaskin went on to beat a duo from George Mason, 9-7, to advance to the championship match on Sunday.
The highly competitive tournament will conclude on Sunday, September 8.
