Bucknell Field Hockey Blanked at Lafayette, 5-0

EASTON, Pa. - Powered by two goals from Megan Monahan, Lafayette defeated Bucknell 5-0 in a Patriot League field hockey game Saturday. The Bison fell to 3-6 overall, 1-2 in Patriot League play, while Lafayette improved to 8-2, 2-0, after its eighth straight victory.
Bucknell, playing without injured leading scorer Meiko Boynton, was outshot 24-10. Monahan scored once in each half for the Leopards, giving her a league-high 10 goals this season. Monahan broke a scoreless tie in the game's 13th minute, while Melissa Hoh scored at 30:20 of the first half to give Lafayette a 2-0 lead at the break.
Meredith Hahn, Monahan and Beth Gulotta all tallied in the second half to cap the scoring.
Bucknell goalie Sonja Wettergreen made nine saves, while Casey Devlin stopped seven shots for the Leopards.
Freshmen Carli Cataldo, making her first career start, and Kelly O'Brien had three shots apiece to lead Bucknell.
The Bison return to action this Wednesday at St. Francis (Pa.) at 3:30 p.m.
