Bucknell Men's Tennis Completes Play At Towson Invitational

TOWSON, Md. - The Bison men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Towson Invitational with two matches on Saturday, September 14. Bucknell defeated Towson, 5-0, before falling to Villanova by the same score.
Against Towson, the duo of sophomore Gerald DiChiara and freshman Asher Salam defeated Todd Nagel and Mike Edison by a score of 4-6, 6-4 (10-4).
In singles play, sophomore Leland Tien was victorious over Chris Rowland at number one, 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Nick Denefrio won his third straight match with a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Matt Shore at the second flight. Senior Todd Jacobs handed Joel Young a 6-0, 7-6 (3) loss at number three, and sophomore Joe Menezes rounded out the scoring with a 6-0, 7-6 (8-6) decision over Doug Ferguson at fourth singles.
The Orange and Blue had a hard time with the Wildcats of Villanova. In doubles play, Jacobs and Denefrio dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Ryan Devine and Lucas Kaster.
Salam was the only Bison to force a third set in singles action, taking Ricardo Baraldi to a 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (10-8) loss at number three.
Bucknell is 2-2 and is in action next at the ECAC Tournament on September 20-22.
