Bison Men's Golf Finishes Third at Lafayette Invitational

LOPATCONG, N.J. - Senior Nick Leibowitz tied for sixth out of 84 linksters, as Bucknell placed third among 17 teams at the Lafayette Invitational, held at the par-71, 6,863-yard Architects Club.
The Bison shot a season-best for an 18-hole round for the second day in a row. After opening the invitational with a 300 yesterday, Bucknell posted a 297 this afternoon to finish with a 597-stroke total, just seven behind invitational champion Duquesne and four behind St. Joseph's.
Leibowitz, who after shooting 72 yesterday entered today's round tied for second and just one stroke behind the overall leader, came through with a 76 this afternoon, and finished in a tie for sixth at 148, seven strokes behind individual champion Paul Polinsky of St. Joseph's.
Scott Leeder posted a 75 for the second day in a row to finish in a tie for ninth at 150.
Abbie Valentine and Dan Gale each compiled a 151 to tie for 17th and complete Bucknell's team scoring. Valentine dropped three strokes from his day one total to finish with a 74 over the final 18 holes. Gale, who was tied for 47th with a 79 after the first day of competition, came back to shoot a team-best 72 this afternoon. Gale recorded the seventh-lowest round overall today.
Alex Dolle shot a 78 to finish tied for 36th at 154.
Bucknell will travel to Army for the Patriot League Championship Tournament on April 20-21.
