Bucknell Women's Basketball Player and Team Among Nation's Statistical Leaders

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior women's basketball player Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) is ranked among the nation's leaders in three categories in the latest national statistics release. In addition, the Bucknell team is ranked nationally in free throw percentage and field goal percentage. The 2001-02 NCAA Women's Basketball statistics leaders were updated on Tuesday, March 5.
Creamer, who leads the team and the Patriot League in scoring and assists, is ranked seventh in the nation with her 22.6 scoring average. The junior has tallied 655 points in 29 games played this season and is the second highest scoring junior in the country. With 5.7 assists per game, Creamer stands at 35th in the country and is the only player in the nation to lead her conference in both points per game and assists per game.
In addition to her scoring and assists averages, Creamer is ranked nationally in free throw percentage. From the foul line, Creamer has been solid, making 72 of her last 77 attempts for a .861 clip, good enough for 29th in the country.
As a team, the Bucknell women's basketball team leads the Patriot League, and is ranked 17th in the country, with a .757 free throw percentage. They have also climbed back into the national rankings in field goal percentage, standing in 30th with.451 accuracy.
The Bison own a record of 20-9 overall and will be competing in the Patriot League championship game on Wednesday, March 6, 2002. The Orange and Blue, seeded second, travel to top-seeded Holy Cross, for the chance to advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
