Franks Wins Subway Athlete of the Month Award in Women's Basketball

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell junior Kate Franks received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of January in basketball.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, Feb. 4. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of January, as selected by their respective coaches, were senior Stephanie Bango in track & field and freshman Jamie Flick in swimming & diving.
The Bison's third-leading scorer with 10.7 points per game, Franks has helped Bucknell to a 13-8 record and a 6-2 mark in the Patriot League. She is also averaging 2.86 assists per game, second among the Bison, and is tied for fifth on the team with 4.1 rebounds per game. She pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds in Bucknell's 85-76 overtime victory over Patriot League opponent American on Jan. 19.
Bucknell is currently tied for first in the Patriot League with Holy Cross and Lehigh. The Bison host league opponent Navy at 5:15 on Wednesday.
