LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham), a member of the Bucknell University women's basketball team, has been tabbed the Patriot League Player of the Week for the fourth time in the last five weeks. Creamer earned the award for the week ending February 3.
Creamer continued her offensive outburst in a 1-1 week for the Bison, averaging 25.5 points per game during the two-game span. As a team, the Bison suffered a 76-55 setback to four-time defending Patriot League champion Holy Cross, before picking up a 79-67 victory at Lafayette to end the week.
The 5-10 guard struggled from the floor against Holy Cross, connecting on only 7-of-23 from the field, but the guard still managed to get a game-high 20 points in the contest. In addition to her scoring abilities, Creamer rounded out a solid game with a season-best eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals.
The floor general turned things up in the closing minutes of the opening frame, scoring 11 of her 17 first half points in the final 4:49. She ended the game with 31 points, her fourth game this season with 30 or more points, on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor, 4-of-5 from three point territory, and 9-of-9 from the foul line. She also handed out five assists and grabbed three steals in the victory.
For the week, Creamer averaged 25.5 points per game, 6.5 assists per game, 6.0 rebounds per game and 3.0 steals per game.
With her four three pointers in the game, Creamer broke her own single-season record of a year ago. She currently has 47 treys on the year. In addition, the point guard moved into second place on the Bucknell all-time career-scoring list with 1,471 points.
She is leading the team and the Patriot League in scoring with 22.0 points per game, and her 25.9 points per game in Patriot League play are also tops. Since the calendar has turned to 2002, Creamer is averaging 25.1 points per game, 6.9 assists per game, 5.3 rebounds per game and 2.8 steals per game.
The Bison are currently 13-8 overall and tied for first in the conference at 6-2, and continue Patriot League competition with a contest against Navy on Wednesday, February 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
