ABOUT THE AMERICAN GAME: Bucknell comes into tonight's game still sharing a piece of the Patriot League lead with an 8-2 conference record. At 15-8 overall, the Bison have reached the 15-win mark for the third straight season. The Orange and Blue have rattled off three-straight wins with the most recent victory coming at Army (82-64).
The Eagles come into tonight's contest riding a four-game win streak after defeating Lafayette, 63-61, on Saturday. American has played its way back to a .500 record at 11-11, and more importantly, has maintained a fourth-place standing in the Patriot League at 6-4.
THE AMERICAN SERIES: Bucknell and American have met only six times in a series that began in 1983. The Eagles claimed the first meeting, taking a 77-72 decision 19 years ago, and went on to win the next three games between the two schools.
After a seven year hiatus, Bucknell and American met again in 2000 as the Bison opened last season with a 79-73 victory over the Patriot League newcomer. The Orange and Blue claimed this season's first meeting, 85-76, in overtime.
SCOUTING AMERICAN: The Eagles are led in the scoring column by junior Katryn Costenbader. Costenbader tosses in 15.6 points per game, good enough for fifth in the conference. On the glass, senior Hollie Steinman pulls down 6.6 rebounds per game to lead the squad.
American is averaging 71.8 points per game, third in the Patriot League, but the Eagles are giving up 73.0 ppg.
