Bucknell's Swimming and Diving Completes Trials/Finals Invitational On Top

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell University completed the two-day Trials and Finals Invitational in the Kinney Natatorium on Sunday. The Bison women ended the weekend in first place with a compiled score of 1,035, while the men also finished atop Fordham and University of New Hampshire with 1,198 points.
The men's team captured five first place finishes on Sunday. With a time of 1:37.22, Mark Kretzer, Michael Guskey, Michael Harrigan and Peter Garvin received the gold medal in the 200-medley relay. Garvin placed first in the 100 free with a time of 47.99. Todd Bauer (4:48.74) and Kurt McCoy (4:51.84) placed first and second in the 500 freestyle.
Adam Freeman captured a first place finish with 433.25 points in the 11-dive three-meter diving competition. The 400 freestyle relay team, Michael Willats, Jake Thieman, Harrigan and Garvin clocked in at 3:13.83. Matt Hallowell (4:17.64) and Gonzalo Diaz (4.21.20) captured the silver and bronze medals in the 400 IM.
The women's swimming team completed the meet with a final score of 1,035 to place first at the first annual Bucknell Trials and Finals Invitational. Darby Golino, Jamie Flick, Mary Krakowski and Meghan Freese finished the 200-medley relay in 1:48.90 for a first place finish. Freese grabbed a second gold medal in the 100 free with a time of 52.82, which set the pool record.
Golino (2:05.66) and Lectie Altman (2:06.19) captured second and third in the 200 backstroke. Altman now stands fourth on the All-Time charts. Krakowski clocked in at 58.67 in the 100 butterfly for the gold, which placed her fourth on the All-Time list. Sarah Petcavage scored 339.36 points in the three-meter 11-dive competition.
"Our goal in competing in a competition like the Trials and Finals Invitational was to prepare for the Patriot League Championships," stated head coach Jerry Foley. "We achieved this goal and the performance was well represented by the entire team. We experienced two-long days of racing and tough competition, which prepared us for the second half of the season."
The Bison will travel to Florida over the winter break and will return to host Patriot League opponent Lafayette on January 11, at 2 p.m.
