LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and freshman Jennie Ruth (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville) have picked up weekly Patriot League honors for the week ending December 1, 2002. It is Creamer's second-straight Player of the Week award, while Ruth earns the Rookie of the Week nod for the first time in her career.
Creamer continued her solid play in a 2-1 week for the Bison. The 5-10 guard opened the week with a 30-point, eight-assist performance in a 77-72 loss to West Virginia. Just two days later, she netted a season-high 31 points and handed out nine helpers in Bucknell's first win of the season, a 100-91 victory over Canisius. The co-captain ended the week just barely missing a triple-double with 23 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in a 95-83 win over Drexel.
For the week, she averaged 28.0 ppg, 9.3 apg and 6.3 rpg. For the season, Creamer is leading the conference with 25.8 ppg and 7.8 apg.
Ruth broke out for a career-high 19 points in Bucknell's 95-83 win over Drexel on November 29. The 6-1 forward also pulled down a career-best seven assists in the win, to go along with six-of-11 shooting from the floor.
On the week, Ruth averaged 10.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg and shot .500 (11-22) from the floor. For the season, she is fourth on the team in scoring with an 8.8 points per game average. Her 4.4 rebounds per game are third-best and her .448 field goal percentage is second-highest on the squad.
The Bison are currently 2-3 overall. Bucknell travels to Loyola for a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Greyhounds on Tuesday, December 3.
