Bucknell Women's Crew Participates in Head of the Occoquan Regatta

FAIRFAX, Va. - On Saturday, Bucknell's women's crew team competed in the Head of the Occoquan Regatta, in Fairfax, Va. This was the final competition for the fall season for the Bison.
Julie Engel placed second out of four boats in the singles competition for the Bison. In the women's Lightweight Eight, Bucknell finished second out of five boats. Lauren Ewald, Vi Ngo, Lauren Donnelly, Amanda Roof, Jocelyn Dautel, Kara Schroepfer, Diana Scheerbaum, Rachel Trusheim and coxswain Kyra Harris completed the race for the Bison.
The Openweight Eight team finished 10th out of 23 boats. The Club A team consisted of coxswain Kyra Harris, Rebecca Newman, Tracy Menkowski, Lauren Ewald, Vi Ngo, Lauren Donnelly, Kara Schroepfer, Jill Harrington, and Joan Wendler.
On the Novice side of competition, Bucknell finished 7th, 17th, and 22nd in a field of 34 boats. Boat A, which finished 7th, included coxswain Caroline Karlberg, Erica Augustenborg, Allison DeKnight, Meredith Cutting, Natalie Wiest, Teal Zeisler, Christine Bufton, Jean Wells, and Ashley White. Boat B, Sara Death, Jennifer Pusty, Rebekah Tessier, Angela Antonini, Kelly Ferroni, Caitlin Scudder, Andrea Morris, Tracey Marren, and coxswain Alison Solano, finished 17th. Finishing out the novice scoring was Boat C, including coxswain Katie Walter, Amanda Roof, Cheryl Sarles, Lisa Kim, Rebecca Olson, Priscilla de San Juan Olle, Allison Pearsall, Sarah Zehner, and Amy Bossler. The women's Novice Boat A also participated in the Club 8 division and finished 15th out of 23 boats.
"For our young varsity crews, it has been a tough fall season, and I am happy that they were able to finish the races with a good performance," stated head coach Steve Kish. "We are looking forward to the winter training period and to a competitive spring season."
The Bison will start the spring competition on Feb. 15 when they will host the Bucknell Erg Armageddon in Davis Gymnasium.
