TONIGHT'S GAME: Bucknell brings a 1-3 overall record into tonight's contest, its third in five days. The Bison picked up a much needed victory on Wednesday, their first of the season, with a 100-91 win over Canisius.
Drexel carries a mark of 0-1 into this evening's game after falling to Penn, 81-77, on Tuesday. The Dragrons return three starters from last year's 14-15 team.
THE SERIES: Bucknell and Drexel renew an old series that started in the 1981-82 season. The Bison and the Dragons have not met since 1995, when Bucknell claimed a 59-56 decision.
Former East Coast Conference rivals, Drexel and BU have met 21 times in the series history with the Dragons holding a commanding 14-7 lead.
THE LAST TIME OUT: Bucknell picked up its first win of the season in an exciting 100-91 victory over visiting Canisius. It is the first time since 1996 that a Bucknell squad has reached the century mark. The last time was when the team set a school record for points in a game with a 115-92 win over, ironically, Canisius.
The Bison found themselves in a 29-24 hole with 8:55 to go in the first half before mounting a 13-4 over the next 2:30 to take a 37-33 lead. The Golden Griffs came marching back to reclaim a 44-41 lead, but Bucknell closed the half on a 7-2 run to take a 48-46 lead into the locker room.
After trailing by as many as six in the second, BU went on to lead by as many as 13 before claiming the 100-91 victory.
BISON PROTECTING THE ROCK: Through four games this season, Bucknell has had more assists than turnovers in three of those games.
The Bison only had three total games last season where their assist total was higher than their turnover number.
FRANKS HAS CAREER NIGHT: Senior Kate Franks had a solid game against Canisius (11/27/02), recording a career-high 28 points in the contest. It was only the second 20-point game for the 5-10 guard, the first coming in her freshman year. She also nailed a career-best seven three-pointers, breaking her old mark of five.
ALMIND DOUBLING UP: Junior Desire Almind recorded her second double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds against Canisius (11/27/02). The double-double was only the fourth of her career. The 6-0 forward recorded two her freshman year, the last coming on January 6, 2001.
