TONIGHT'S GAME: The Bison are coming off of a 78-64 loss at St. Bonaventure last Friday. With the loss, Bucknell fell to 0-2 for the first time since the 1994-95 season.
West Virginia carries a 1-0 record into this evening's contest. The Mountaineers recently defeated Mount St. Mary's 76-63 last Friday.
THE SERIES: This evening's contest is the first between the two schools.
THE LAST TIME OUT: The Bucknell women's basketball team dropped a 14-point decision for the second game in a row, falling at St. Bonaventure, 78-64, on Friday, November 22.
The Bucknell squad got off to a quick start, building a 7-0 lead after just over two minutes of play, thanks to several St. Bonaventure turnovers. The Bonnies would not go quietly, however, quickly surging a comeback to lead 14-13 four minutes later. The two squads went back and forth over the next two minutes before St. Bonaventure mounted a 15-5 run that spanned over five minutes to take a commanding 32-20 lead. The Bison trailed by ten, 39-29, at halftime thanks to a last second jumper by freshman Lindsey Geosits.
St. Bonaventure wasted little time in the second half, pushing the lead to 15 with two quick scores. Senior Molly Creamer answered with five points in 30 seconds to get it back to a 44-34 game, but that was as close as the Bison would get the rest of the way. The Bonnies went on to lead by as many as 24 (70-46), before a late push by Bucknell got the Orange and Blue within the final margin of 14.
Creamer and senior Kate Franks led Bucknell with 17 points each, both on 6-18 shooting from the floor. Junior Desire Almind was also in double figures with 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
CREAMER NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Senior Molly Creamer earned the Patriot League's first Player of the Week honor, given for games through November 24.
Through Bucknell's first two games, Creamer averaged 22.5 ppg and 5.5 apg.
