Bucknell Women's Crew Participates In Head Of The Schuylkill Regatta

In the Women's Championship Eight, Bucknell finished 20th out of 23 boats. The Bison crossed the line ahead of Hobart and Williams Smith and Temple University, but behind Patriot League competition from Lehigh, Holy Cross, Colgate and Navy. The Women's Championship Eight team included Rebecca Newman, Julie Engel, Jocelyn Dautel, Candice Olszewski, Diana Scheerbaum, Tracy Menkowski, Jill Harrington, Joan Wendler and coxswain Nicole Tomlin.
Bucknell's Women's Quad, Allison Gasbarra, Elizabeth Ayerle, Jennifer Prunoske, and Erica Augustenborg, placed 12th in the race.
Lauren Ewald, Vi Ngo, Lauren Donnelly, Alyson Buoncristiani, Meiko Nevels, Kara Schroepfer, Rachel Trusheim, Jill Pompeii and coxswain Kyra Harris completed the Women's Lightweight race seventh out of eight teams. The Bison crossed the line 20-seconds behind LaSalle.
The Orange and Blue's novice eight teams placed 20th, 30th and 50th out of a 50-boat field. In boat A, Erica Augustenborg, Allison DeKnight, Meredith Cutting, Natalie Wiest, Teal Zeisler, Christine Bufton, Jean Wells, Priscilla de San Juan Olle, and coxswain Caroline Karlberg, placed 20th. Boat B, which included Amanda Roof, Allison Pearsall, Molly Mitchell, Rebecca Olson, Kelly Ferroni, Sarah Zehner, Sara Death, Amy Bossler, and coxswain Alison Solano captured 30th. Finishing out the novice eight was boat C, including Jennifer Pusty, Angela Antonini, Rebekah Tessier, Ashley White, Lauren Davis, Cheryl Sarles, Emily Petrack, Tracey Marren, and coxswain Katie Walter, placing 50th.
"It was a very encouraging day for the novice women," mentioned head coach Steve Kish. "They did an amazing job in their first race on the Schuylkill River."
The women's crew team will return to the water next weekend, Saturday, Nov. 2, in Fairfax, Va. for the Head of the Occoquan. This will be the last fall race for Bucknell. To start the spring competition, the Bison will host the Bucknell Erg Armageddon on Feb. 15 in Davis Gymnasium.
