Bucknell Swimming & Diving Squads Defeat Colgate in Final Meet at Freas-Rooke Pool

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell University men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed in the final meet ever at Freas-Rooke Pool this afternoon, and came away with a sweep over Patriot League rival Colgate University.
The women's team improved to 4-2 on the season with a 139-102 victory, while the men's squad knocked off the Raiders by a count of 145-93 to improve to 3-2.
Freshman Jackie Feinthel led the women's team with a pair of victories in the 1,000 free and the 200 fly. In the 1,000, she recorded a time of 10:30.19, good for a new Bucknell school record. That time will also forever be the Freas-Rooke Pool record. Feinthel captured the 200 fly with a 2:10.90 clocking.
Sophomore Daniela Faas, freshman Jamie Flick, sophomore Megan Freese, junior Darby Golino and senior Abby Weaver also recorded one win apiece for the women's team. Faas captured the 500 free in 5:12.40, while Flick placed first in the 200 breast in 2:26.05. Freese was victorious in the 200 free (25.10), Golino touched the wall first in the 200 back (2:08.59) and Weaver won the 100 free in 54.30.
In addition, the women's team won the 400 medley relay. Golino, Flick, freshman Ashley Aiken and Freese teamed up to take the event in 4:01.41, the 10th-best time in school history.
The Bison men's team was led by double-winners Peter Garvin, Kurt McCoy and Jack Sheehan. Garvin earned the Bison 10 points for victories in the 100 free (48.80) and the 50 free (21.82). McCoy won both the 1,000 free (10:20.90) and the 500 free (4:55.72), and Sheehan placed first in the 200 IM (2:00.05) as well as the 200 back (1:59.80).
Other winners for Bucknell were sophomore Michael Harrigan and junior Adam Yerkes. Harrigan clocked a 1:59.92 in winning the 200 fly, and Yerkes won the 200 free in 1:48.99.
Bucknell's men's team also captured the 400 medley relay. Joining forces to win the event in 3:38.42 were Sheehan, Junior Stelios Saffos, sophomore Adam Puff and sophomore Michael Willats.
Both teams will return to action next Saturday with a dual-meet at Patriot League opponent Lehigh University with diving events beginning at noon.
