Bucknell Makes National Impact

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women's lacrosse sophomores Suzanne Raffaele (Springfield, Pa./Archmere Academy) and Nicole Kallis (Stevensville, Md./St. Mary's), and junior Melissa Montefusco (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) are ranked nationally in goals per game, save percentage and goals against average, and assists per game, respectively. The 2001 NCAA Women's Lacrosse statistics leaders report was updated on Sunday, April 22.
Raffaele, an attack for the Bison, is ranked 18th in the country in goals per game with 2.91 per game. She tallied 32 goals in 11 games before being lost for the season with a knee injury.
Kallis has played in 14 games for the Bison, starting 10 in the net. With a save percentage of .617, Kallis stands at fifth in the nation in that category. She has allowed 106 goals while stopping 171 opponents' shots. In addition, Kallis' 8.59 goals against average is 19th in the country and second among league players.
Montefusco moves up to 13th in the nation in assists per game after handing out five helpers in three games last week. At 1.53 assists per game, Montefusco is the best among Patriot League players in the assist category. With her second assist against Columbia on April 17, Montefusco became the Bucknell record holder for career assists with 43. She finishes her junior season with 23 total assists, giving her 46 in her career.
In addition, the Orange and Blue end the season with the nation's third longest win streak at four games.
Bucknell ends the season at 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the Patriot League. The Bison closed out the year with a four-game win streak, the third highest in the country, including a season-ending double overtime victory at Drexel.
