Women's Lacrosse Team Falls to Holy Cross, 11-9

LEWISBURG, Pa. - In women's lacrosse action on Saturday, March 31, the Holy Cross Crusaders handed Bucknell an 11-9 loss in Patriot League play. The loss drops Bucknell to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in conference action. Holy Cross improves to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in Patriot League play.
Holy Cross struck first in the game, scoring two unanswered goals with over 20 minutes to play in the half. The Bison cut the lead to 2-1 when senior tri-captain Ashley Evans (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) tallied one of her team-high four goals at the 18:29 mark. Senior Jen Holiday (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) was credited with the assist. The Crusaders jumped out to a 3-1 lead when Kaite Britt scored with 15:10 remaining, but the Orange and Blue answered with a goal by sophomore Suzanne Raffaele (Springfield, Pa./Archmere Academy) at the 14:07 mark to stay within one. Holy Cross jumped ahead by two with just over 10 minutes remaining, but BU scored four goals in the final 9:30 minutes of the half to carry a 6-4 lead into halftime.
A. Evans scored two more goals in the second frame, and senior tri-captain Kari Evans (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) added a score, but it wasn't enough as the Crusaders outscored BU, 7-3, in the second on their way to the 11-9 come from behind victory.
Bucknell falls to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the Patriot League. The Bison host Niagara for a non-conference game on Sunday, April 1, at 12:00 noon. Holy Cross improves to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.
