Bucknell's five-game winning streak came to an end with a 17-12 loss at Fordham ... the Bison spotted Fordham a 17-0 lead and could not complete a fourth-quarter comeback ... the Rams led 3-0 at the half but scored on two big plays in the third quarter - a 78-yard punt return by Dan McGrath and a 47-yard screen pass from Mark Carney to Peter Modelski ... QB Todd Wenrich scored on a 6-yard touchdown run to cap a 13-play, 82-yard drive and get the Bison on the board for the first time with 11:42 remaining in the fourth quarter ... later in the fourth, one play after Wenrich threw an interception on the Fordham 1-yard line, OLB Mark Tallman recovered a fumble in the end zone for his first career touchdown ... a missed PAT and incomplete two-point conversion pass left the Bison behind 17-12 ... Bucknell had two more possessions, the last coming with 29 seconds left, but Wenrich's desperation pass into the end zone on the final play of the game was tipped into the air but intercepted ... Wenrich tied the school record for pass completions in a game (36) and shattered the record for pass attempts (67) ... Jim Given set the previous records with a 36-for-62 performance against Colgate in 1986 ... Wenrich passed for 280 yards, six shy of his career high and his fourth time over 250 this season ... the Bison ran a whopping 100 plays and gained 377 total yards and 27 first downs, but managed only one offensive touchdown on the day ... Bucknell was just 1-for-3 in the red zone and had a 47-yard field goal attempt blocked ... RB Jabu Powell, back in the starting lineup after missing last week's game against Georgetown, carried 20 times for 95 yards and also caught nine passes for 68 yards ... all other Bison ballcarriers gained just two yards on 12 carries ... WR Jim Horan caught a career-high 12 passes, good for 74 yards ... the loss marred another excellent performance by the Bucknell defense ... the Bison held Fordham to only 88 rushing yards and 193 total yards, forced 12 punts, recovered a pair of fumbles and stopped the Rams on 13 of 15 third-down tries ... in addition to Tallman's fumble recovery in the end zone, ILB Vic Cole pounced on a loose ball at the Bucknell 4-yard line with 4:05 remaining in the game ... ILB Stephane Pluviose led Bucknell with nine tackles (four solo), including a sack and three tackles for loss ... OLB Joe Massey returned after missing three games with a shoulder injury ... Massey logged five tackles (four solo), a sack and a pair of pass deflections ... Bucknell had its six-game winning streak at Fordham snapped ... the Herd's last loss to the Rams in New York came at the Polo Grounds in 1932 ... Bucknell's series lead was trimmed to 11-6 ... next week the Bison return home to face Patriot League foe Holy Cross at 12:30 p.m. ... the Crusaders were also dealt their first league loss on Saturday, 47-14 at Lehigh.
