
Yale Tops Bison Field Hockey, 4-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sarah Driscoll had a goal and an assist as Yale broke open a 1-1 tie with a three-goal second half and defeated Bucknell 4-1 in a non-league field hockey contest Sunday afternoon.
The Bison lost their fifth straight game and fell to 5-8 on the season, while Yale improved to 6-6.
Bucknell's Lisa Bingaman opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the game when she deflected Annie Hunsicker's shot in a scramble following a penalty corner. The goal was Bingaman's fourth of the season.
Yale tied it on Caroline Thompson's unassisted goal with 6:26 remaining in the first half, and the Bulldogs surged ahead with a big second half. Driscoll set up Suzanne Anthony's go-ahead goal with 16:59 remaining in the game, then Driscoll added an insurance tally with 8:03 to play. Stephanie Dolmat-Connell capped the scoring with an unassisted marker with 3:30 left.
Sonja Wettergreen made 11 saves for the Bison, who were outshot 21-12. Yale held a 9-5 edge in penalty corners.
Bucknell returns to Patriot League competition on Wednesday when it visits Colgate at 6 p.m.
