COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER: BUCKNELL 2, Duquesne 1 (1OT)
Lewisburg, Pa. --- The Bucknell women's soccer team extended its winning streak to three games this afternoon with a 2-1 overtime win against Duquesne. This marks the third overtime game of the season for the Orange and Blue.
The Duquesne Dukes got on the board first when Daniell McGovern lobbed the ball over the keeper into the goal for a 1-0 lead. This score stood until shortly into the second half when sophomore Tara Utchel (Heidelberg, Pa./Sewickley) headed the ball into the lower corner of the net to tie the game up at one apiece.
With only 2:22 left in overtime, junior Lindsay Slomer (Cheswick, Pa./Springdale) picked up a deflected cross from freshman Kristie Simon (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) and booted the ball into the goal for the game winner.
The women's soccer team is now 3-2 on the season and will open up conference play next weekend when it travels to Annapolis, Md. to take on Patriot League foe, Navy, at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15.
