Kelly Morris Named Softball Pitching Coach

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Kelly Morris, a 2000 graduate of Mansfield University, has been named softball pitching coach at Bucknell University, Head Coach Janelle Breneman announced.
Morris joins the Bucknell coaching staff this year, taking on the task of instructing the Bison pitching unit.
Morris was a four-year member of the Mountaineer softball squad. A two-year captain for the team, she leaves the northern Pennsylvania school as the career and season strikeout record holder. While playing for Mansfield, Morris earned two NFCA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional All-American Second-Team selections, and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Second-Team appearance.
Morris ended her junior campaign ranked 22nd in strikeouts per seven innings in NCAA Division II. As a senior at Mansfield, she finished the season ranked fourth in strikeouts per seven innings in the PSAC. In addition, she posted the 11th best earned run average in the conference in her final season and was named her team's most valuable player.
During her stay at Mansfield, Morris was a PSAC Scholar Athlete, a two-time NFCA Academic All-American and a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She was named Mansfield's Spring 2000 Athlete of the Year, as well as the Mansfield University Woman of the Year.
In addition to her playing experience, Morris has been active in several instructional softball and baseball camps for the past four years.
Morris joins a team that went 10-26 last season and 2-8 in the Patriot League. The Bison compete in the conference with Army, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette and Lehigh.
Bucknell sponsors 28 intercollegiate sports, 14 each for men and women, at the Division I level (I-AA in football). It is a charter member of the Patriot League and has won the league's all-sports championship in seven of the ten years it has been contested. Bucknell continually ranks among the top institutions in student-athlete graduation rate in Division I every year and ranks third in Division I in producing GTE Academic All-Americans.
