Women's Soccer Finishes Regular Season With 2-1 Victory Over Visiting Albany

Lewisburg, Pa. --- This afternoon the Bucknell women's soccer team concluded its regular season with a 2-1 victory over the Great Danes of Albany. The Bison finish the regular season with an 8-8-1 overall record and a 3-2-1 Patriot League record.
Bucknell was able to keep Albany on its heals for most of the first half and managed to break the scoreless tie with 39:21 left in the half. Scoring her first goal collegiate goal was freshman Bekah Clark (Westfield Center, Ohio/Cloverleaf) on a long strike from behind the 25-yard line into the upper corner of the goal. This tally however would prove to be the only goal of the first stanza as Albany goalkeeper, sophomore Erica Van Zandt (Troy, N.Y./Tamarac) made eight saves against the strong Bison offense.
The Orange and Blue opened the second half attacking the Danes defense and were finally able to sneak one through when freshman Kristen Tsou (Guilford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) passed the ball to classmate Savannah Rennels (Rector, Pa./Latrobe Area) who put the ball into the goal for her ninth of the season and the eventual game-winner. Facing a 2-1 deficit, Albany mounted an attack in the last 10 minutes of the contest and was able to score when sophomore Janee Feliciano (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) put the ball past the Bucknell keeper. Albany would not get another chance to score as the Orange and Blue locked down the hatches for the remaining 4:22 to gain the victory.
The women's soccer team has earned the #3 seed in the Patriot League Championship tournament and will face first round opponent, #2 Holy Cross, on Saturday, November 4 at 3:00 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y.
