Bison Fight 'Till End, But Can't Beat The Hokies

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Bucknell men's soccer team suffered
its second-straight defeat, falling to Virginia Tech, 2-1, in
Blacksburg, Va., on Monday, October 9.
Tech's Okey Ogbuawa opened the scoring in the game when he blasted
the ball past Bison goalkeeper Steve Whitaker (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga)
just 7:10 into the game.
Virginia Tech carried the 1-0 lead into the intermission and through
most of the second half, but at the 73:19 mark of the game, the
Orange and Blue knotted the score at 1-1 on a goal by sophomore
Ian McVeigh (Northampton, Mass./Cathedral). Nick Taylor (Cleveland,
Ohio/St. Ignatius) was credited with the assist. The game remained
tied until ten minutes later when Virginia Tech's Ogbuawa scored
his second goal of the game to give the Hokie's a 2-1 lead with
just five minutes remaining.
The host team would hold on for the remainder of the game and
come away with the 2-1 victory.
Bucknell falls to 6-6-1 on the season and returns home for a 4:00
p.m. game against Saint Peter's on Saturday, October 14. Virginia
Tech improves to 2-7-2 on the year.
