Women's Soccer Drops Final Patriot League Game To Lafayette 3-2

Lewisburg, Pa. --- This afternoon the Bucknell women's
soccer team honored its only senior on the roster, Kristen
Erb (Lancaster, Pa./Maneheim Township) in her final home Patriot
League contest versus Lafayette. The Leopards outlasted the Orange
and Blue and won the contest 3-2.
In a game that saw the lead change three times, Lafayette managed
to squeak out the victory on a goal from the Patriot League's
leading goal scorer, sophomore Emily Myers. Assisting on the
game-winning goal was freshman Meghan Ramsey. Myers finished
the contest with two goals, which included the game-winner, bringing
her season total to 15 tally's. Also scoring for the Leopards
was freshman Miriam Habeeb on a 10-yard strike in front of the
goal early in the first half.
The Orange and Blue, despite getting goals from freshman Kristie
Simon (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) and senior tri-captain
Erb, were unable to slip a third one by the stingy Lafayette defense.
The Bison were able to knot the game at 2-2 before halftime when
Erb was able to redirect the ball into the goal off a free kick
taken by sophomore Karla Killian (Dayton, Md./River Hill).
This score would stand at the end of the first stanza but Bucknell
would be unable to score again in the second half eventually falling
to Lafayette 3-2.
Lafayette improves to 10-6 on the season and more importantly
2-3 in conference play. The Leopards ended up outshooting the
Bison 20-10 in the contest. Having a career day in goal for Bucknell
was sophomore keeper Laurie Purse (Traverse City, Mich./Western
Reserve Academy) collecting 13 saves and keeping her team
close.
Bucknell falls to 7-7-1 on the season and finishes its Patriot League schedule with a 3-2-1 record qualifying them for the post-season tournament. The Bison will take to the field next when they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. on Tuesday, October 24 to play Cornell at 4:00 p.m.
