Ithaca, N.Y. --- The women's soccer team battled through
wind, rain, and a 3-0 halftime deficit to fall just a little bit
short of a strong Cornell squad. The Bison responded to the three
goal Cornell lead by scoring two of their own in the second half
but it would not be enough with the final score being 4-2 in favor
of the Big Red.
Scoring the first goal for the Bison was junior Ali Chandler (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) early in the second half when she took a pass from junior Anna Hall (Chapel Hill, N.C./Durham Academy) and snuck it past the Cornell goalkeeper. Still facing a two-goal deficit, freshman Savannah Rennels (Rector, Pa./Latrobe Area) managed to tally her eighth goal of the season off a crisp pass from sophomore defender Kate Cramer (Manasquan, N.J./Wall). Unfortunately for the Bison faithful this would be the last goal of the contest for the Orange and Blue. The Big Red would score one more in the second stanza to clinch the victory, 4-2.
Bucknell falls to 7-8-1 and has only one contest remaining in the regular season. The final contest for the Orange and Blue will be in Lewisburg, Pa. on Tuesday, October 31 at 3:00 p.m against Albany.
