Hope Foster was one of the top centers ever to play for the Bison women’s basketball team, Foster tallied 1,256 career points and was best-known for her rebounding and shot-blocking prowess. She broke the Bucknell career record for blocked shots as a sophomore, and her 344 career blocked shots nearly tripled the second-highest total of 132 by Marie Kocornik. She logged each of the top four best single-season blocks marks in Bucknell annals, including a record 95 in 2005-06. Her 11 blocked shots against Michigan State in 2007-08 set the school single-game record.Â
Â
Foster’s 904 career rebounds marked the school record until 2018-19, when Kaitlyn Slagus eclipsed her standard. Foster earned a spot on the Patriot League All-Rookie Team as a freshman, followed by three straight years on the All-Patriot League First Team. She was the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and the overall Player of the Year as a junior. Foster served as a team co-captain in 2007-08, when the Bison captured the Patriot League Tournament title and went to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history. A member of the Patriot League 25th Anniversary Team, Foster earned the Bryan-Humphreys Award for her versatility at both ends of the court.
A native of Washington, D.C. (Dunbar High School), Foster played professionally USC Freiburg Basketball Club in Germany after graduating from Bucknell.
