Katie Adams starts her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Bucknell women’s basketball program in the fall of 2014. She coordinates the team’s strength training and conditioning program, and works primarily with the Bison guards and wings.
A 2008 graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in exercise science and psychology, Adams amassed a wealth of coaching experience at several camps and at the helm of the South Amboy High School squad in New Jersey prior to her time at Bucknell. While at South Amboy from 2008 to 2010, her teams finished second in the league’s Gold Division and advanced to the state playoffs in both seasons. Adams also ran a basketball camp in Ireland in 2010, working with children ages 7 to 17, and coached a U11 team for the Central Jersey Cardinals AAU program. Her coaching experience also includes a stint with Hoop Group and NBS Basketball Camps from 2008 to 2009.
During her tenure as a student-athlete at Rutgers, Adams helped the Scarlet Knights to the national championship game in 2007, the Elite Eight in 2005 and 2008 and the Sweet 16 in 2006. A native of Ogden, Utah, she received Rutgers’ Most Inspirational Player award after the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons, as well as the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Wilma Rudolph Courage Award and the College Council Leadership Award in 2007. A year later, she added the team’s Coaches’ Award and Scholar-Athlete honor to her resume while serving as a captain. Adams later went on to play semi-professional basketball with the New Jersey Thunder (2007-08) and the New Jersey Fusion (2008-09).
Prior to joining the Bison in the summer of 2011, Adams worked with individuals with disabilities at Ark Regional Services in Laramie, Wyo., where she was also pursuing a degree in secondary math education at the University of Wyoming.
