Bucknell Highlights (As Head Coach)
• Ranks third in program history in coaching wins (58)
• Two All-Patriot League players
• Four Academic All-Patriot League selections
• Kristen Parks set program's single-match digs record (44)
Anna Allison is set to begin her 15th season with the Bucknell volleyball team and her seventh as the head coach. Prior to taking over the program in 2013, she spent the previous eight years as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator for the Bison.
Through her first six seasons as head coach, Allison has moved into third on the program's career wins list with 58. Thirty of those victories came against league opponents. She has mentored two All-Patriot League player, helping Karen Campbell win Second Team honors in 2015 and Mimi Richards Second Team recognition in 2017, and has had four players -- Hailey Stout (twice), Jessica Serrato, and Campbell -- voted Academic All-Patriot League.
In Allison's second season as head coach, the 2014 Bucknell team was one of the most improved in the Patriot League and showed signs of being able to compete with some of the conference frontrunners. Despite numerous close losses in league play, the Bison recorded their most conference wins (5) since 2010. The effort was spearheaded by the consistent defensive play of Kristen Parks, who posted the program's third-highest single-season digs total (476), including a single-match record 44 in a four-set win over Holy Cross.
The team continued its upward trend in 2015, Allison's third season as head coach. The Bison doubled their win total, finishing 14-12 overall, and finished just one spot outside of the conference tournament with a Patriot League record of 8-8. The team had another solid season in 2017, going .500 both overall (14-14) and in league play (8-8).
During her time as an assistant coach, Allison mentored some of the program's top setters. In 2006, she helped guide former Bucknell setter Shannon Pitsch to a school single-season record total in assists (1,199), which also ranked first in the Patriot League. Pitsch, who was a 2008 All-Patriot League selection and a two-time Patriot League All-Tournament Team honoree, went on to claim the career record (3,597) under Allison's tutelage as well. Â
A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and a member of a prominent volleyball family, Allison is a 2004 graduate of Oral Roberts University, where she was one of the top setters in Golden Eagles' history. Allison was a First Team All-Mid Continent Conference selection three times and was named Setter of the Year in 2000 and 2002. As a senior in 2002 she shattered the Oral Roberts career assists record as well as the Mid-Con career service aces record. Oral Roberts won four straight league titles and played in four NCAA Tournaments during her playing days.Â
A two-time team captain, Allison was also an outstanding student and earned Scholar-Athlete honors while successfully completing degrees in advertising and marketing communications. She completed her Master's degree in education-athletic administration from Northcentral University in December 2012.Â
A lifelong student of the sport of volleyball, Allison's enthusiasm and commitment to the game was influenced by her father, Antonio Carlos Moreno, who played for the Brazilian national team for 16 years and participated in four Olympic Games. Anna's twin brother, Carlos, was an All-America setter who earned AVCA Player of the Year honors while leading BYU to the 2004 NCAA men's national championship.Â
In 2003-04 Allison served as graduate assistant coach at Oral Roberts, where she worked closely with the Golden Eagles' setters and assisted in scouting and recruiting. Throughout her undergraduate career she coached the ORU Club team, featuring players aged 12 to 18, as well as the 16-18 Tulsa Volleyball Club. In her native Brazil, Allison was a regular coach at the S.P. Volleyball Camp and has worked as director, recruiting manager and coach with the Moreno Corp. Over the summers, she has served on the staff of the Gold Medal Square Camp as well as the Bentley College Camp.Â
