- Title:
- Manager of Basketball Operations
Abby Jump is set to begin her first season as the manager of basketball operations at Bucknell. She joins the Bison staff after wrapping up a four-year playing career at Wright State, where she was a team captain during her junior and senior seasons.
Jump helped guide Wright State to the most successful run in program history. The Raiders went 25-9 and qualified for their first ever NCAA Tournament in 2014 after rolling to the Horizon League Tournament title. They followed that up with a 25-9 record this past season and an appearance in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) for the first time in program history.
As a junior, Jump led the Horizon League in 3-point percentage. She then returned from an injury her senior season and led the league in 3-point percentage in conference play. Those shooting skills were on full display at the 2015 Horizon League Tournament, where she shot 57 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 8.3 points over three games, helping the Raiders advance to the championship game for the second straight year.
Jump got an early start to her career following her final season at Wright State, as she was selected as one of 50 participants for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s “So You Want To Be A Coach” program. The program, which was held in conjunction with the WBCA National Convention in Tampa, Florida, provided participants the opportunity to not only learn about the skills and responsibilities required for coaching, but also the skills necessary to secure coaching positions.
Jump has been a volunteer coach for numerous teams and camps at the youth, high school and AAU levels. Most recently, she worked with Athletes in Action, running clinics for high school teams in Berlin, Germany. With that same organization, she coached teams in Prague, Czech Republic.
A Dean’s List student, Jump earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership at Wright State, finishing up her undergraduate work in 2014. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sport management at her alma mater.
