Blake Treadwell was named the Bucknell football team's running backs coach on March 18, 2019.
Treadwell, a former standout on Michigan State University's offensive line, spent the 2018 and 2017 campaigns as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater. Before that, he served as a graduate assistant coach at the University of South Florida from 2015 to 2016. At both stops, he worked with the offensive line.Â
During Treadwell's time at South Florida, the Bulls' offense excelled, finishing in the FBS's top 10 in rushing, scoring and total offense in 2016. The 2016 South Florida team posted an 11-2 record and was ranked 19th in the final Associated Press poll.
Before his stint with the Bulls, Treadwell spent the 2014 campaign as a film evaluator at Michigan State. During that time, he also worked as an offensive and defensive line coach at East Lansing High School.
A decorated offensive lineman, Treadwell helped the Spartans win two Big Ten championships and reach four bowl games during his collegiate playing days from 2009 to 2013. As a senior captain, he was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team after starting all 14 games at left guard for a Michigan State team that won a school-record 13 games and wrapped up the season ranked third in the national polls. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and five-year letterwinner, he was also recognized on ESPN.com's 2013 All-Bowl Team for his performance during the Spartans' 24-20 victory over No. 5 Stanford in the 100th Rose Bowl. He played in 44 career games, including 24 starts on the offensive line and six on the defensive line.
Treadwell graduated from Michigan State in 2013 with a degree in sociology. He earned his master's in sports administration from his alma mater in 2018.
Treadwell was coached by Bison defensive coordinator Ryan Manalac, who was on Mark Dantonio's staff from 2011 to 2015 and worked in all three phases of the game.
