Heather Schnepf is set to begin her first season as an assistant coach on the Bison field hockey staff. Schnepf comes to Lewisburg with 11 years of coaching experience, including the past nine seasons as an assistant at Kent State.
Kent State was a perennial contender in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) during Schnepf's time with the team. The Golden Flashes appeared in the NCAA Tournament four times after winning four MAC Tournament titles, including three straight from 2014-16. They added six regular season titles during Schnepf's nine seasons and had the most league wins (47) of any team in the conference.
The Golden Flashes racked up individual honors during Schnepf's time on staff. On the national and regional level, they had four NFHCA All-Americans and 17 all-region selections. At the conference level, Kent State won two MAC Player of the Year awards, three MAC Newcomer of the Year accolades, and 43 All-MAC selections. Academically, the team totaled 15 NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honors, 110 NFHCA All-Academic honorees, 14 MAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete awards, 70 Academic All-MAC honors, and two CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.
Schnepf began her coaching career as a student assistant at Iowa in 2007 before heading to Drexel as a graduate assistant coach for the 2008 season. She spent one season as the head coach of Princeton Day School before taking the assistant job at Kent State.
A standout player at Iowa, Schnepf led the Hawkeyes to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances and became only the third player in Big Ten history to earn the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award in back-to-back years. She recorded 11 goals, 13 assists and 16 defensive saves in her collegiate career and was a First Team All-American as a senior.
Schnepf also excelled at the international level. She represented the United States while taking home the silver medal at the 2009 Pan American Games. Previously she participated on the Midwest High Performance Team and the USA-B squad that faced Sony Japan, the Canadian National Team and the USA-A squad. In 2013, she was one of eight players selected to be a captain for the inaugural Harrow Cup, a post-collegiate women's field hockey tournament.
A First Team All-American at Lenape High School as well, she earned her bachelor of science in athletic training from Iowa in 2007.Â
