Update from Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Frank Fedorjaka -- October 2025

Hello Everyone,
Â
There is so much that goes on during the first month of the school year. Of course, we have started practicing and preparing for the 2026 season. It’s exciting to see the new first-year guys, the transfers, and how other guys have improved from their summer workouts.Â
Â
As of September 1, we were able to begin to recruit juniors in high school. The staff spends the entire summer on the road evaluating over 5,000 rising juniors. After hundreds of phone calls to different club and high school coaches, we then narrow it down to about 200 prospects that we choose to actively recruit when the calendar hits September 1. We typically have one to three recruits visiting every day right now as we begin to put together our high school class of 2027.
Â
We recently finished a great Family Weekend. There were about 130 parents, family and friends present for our intrasquad scrimmage on September 20. Some standouts from the scrimmage were Sean Murray, Henry Boykin, Colin McLoy, Zach Hepworth, Luke Brennan, Luke Fliss, Parker Day, Jaz Zanelli, Luke Renaud, Will Pickering, Corbin Lukanski, Jack Tully, Graham Garrigan, and Ollie Hau.Â

On a sad note, Danylo Kulczycky ’07 passed away over the summer after a 10-year battle with brain cancer. There were a number of Bucknellians in attendance at the service to support the Kulczycky family. Aside from the unfortunate circumstances it was good to see Stevie Case, Steve Cheng, Greg Sowyrda, Brian Gargan, Evan Burns and Kirk Klett at the service.
Our team participated in a 9/11 run in Lewisburg in support of Rex Lynne, who is battling ALS right now. Rex served in the armed forces and his son Adam played for Bucknell and graduated in 2016.

Â
On a different note, I was honored to be in attendance for the Benny Borgognone ’18 wedding. It was held at the Oheka Castle on Long Island. Benny started for the 2018 team that beat the eventual National Champion Yale team. That was a great year for the Bison as we had five guys get drafted into the MLL (Benny, Will Sands, Matt Gilray, Sean O’Brien and Connor O’Hara). In attendance at the Borgognone wedding were Duke Repko, John Reed, Sands, Gilray, O’Brien, O’Hara, Zach Hankhaus, Grayson Helm, Sam Hahn and Brac McKee.
Congratulations to Stevie Case ’07, who also got married over the summer. I was fortunate to see a lot of the guys at the dinner rehearsal in Canandaigua, including Paul Stansik, Greg Sowyrda, Brian Gargan and Kirk Klett.Â

Â
We have two scrimmages this fall. We will be traveling to Springfield High School in Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 18 to compete against Penn St. and Drexel. The games will be at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Our final scrimmage will be at UPenn’s historic Franklin Field on Saturday, October 25 at 3 p.m.
Â
Academically, we had a tremendous spring 2025 term. Our team had a 3.6 GPA, which was the highest of any men’s lacrosse team in the Patriot League, as well as any Bucknell men’s team. We placed 35 of our 45 guys on the Dean’s List!
Â
We now have our staff all set for the 2025-26 season. For the first time since 1999 I will not be serving as the defensive coordinator. I am going to have two separate coordinators, and this will allow me to be more active with the offense, the face-off guys and the goalies. Of course, I will still be heavily involved with the defense as well. Kyle Gallagher will serve as the defensive coordinator, Matt Kerwick will serve as the offensive coordinator, and our newest hire, Jackson Mumford, will be working with the face-off guys, the goalies and run the box on game days.
Â
As always, thank you for all the support you show the program. The young men on our team appreciate all that you do to help them achieve success, both on the field and in the classroom. We look forward to seeing you along the way this season.
Â
Go Herd! Â
Â
Sincerely,
