Hello Everyone,
Exciting Developments for Bucknell Men's Lacrosse
This season marks a milestone for our program as we begin utilizing the Pascucci Team Center as our permanent home. This state-of-the-art facility features:
Welcoming Our New Bucknellians
This year, we welcome 14 freshmen and three transfer students this fall. Among them are:
Retaining Our Strengths
We’re fortunate to have impact players from last year's team returning, including:
The competitive landscape is shifting this year with the expiration of the COVID-related fifth-year players. At Bucknell, the limited graduate program has historically placed us at a disadvantage compared to league competitors like Boston, Loyola, and Lehigh. We look forward to a more level playing field this year.
With our brand-new state-of-the-art facilities, our proven and experienced upperclassmen, freshmen, and transfer talent, COVID 5th-years behind us, and the entire staff returning, I feel confident that we are embarking on a very strong year ahead.
Coach J To Receive Inaugural Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award
We have some exciting news to share regarding another prestigious honor for our Hall-of-Fame coach Sid Jamieson! The Indigenous Values Initiative has created the Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award, and Sid has been selected as the inaugural recipient.
The Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award was created to keep the legacy of the Onondaga Stickmaker alive, to promote the game of lacrosse's sacred Indigenous roots, and to honor members of the larger community who share Alfie’s love of lacrosse and his commitment to its growth.
The first First Nations head coach in NCAA history, Sid is a very worthy recipient of this award, as he is extremely proud of his heritage and has been an avid promoter of lacrosse's Indigenous history. Sid coached the Iroquois National Team, he has given numerous lectures for Native American youth on education, self-motivation, and self-esteem, and he has also been called upon to speak in classrooms on campus and in the community regarding Native American issues. At all Bucknell home lacrosse games, Sid flew the flag of the Haudenosaunee, the six-nation Iroquois confederacy. Among his many honors are the Iroquois Nationals Lifetime Achievement Award, the Spirit of Tewaarton Award, and the Gen. George M. Gelston Award as the person who “most represents the symbol of the game of lacrosse.”
Please join me in congratulating Sid!
We are looking forward to what lies ahead this year for Bucknell Lacrosse. Thank you for your continued support of our program, and I hope to see you this season.
Best Regards,
Frank Fedorjaka
